Labor Day 2008

It's Labor Day 2008. That means:
  • The kids in Seattle go back to school tomorrow. This means fewer seats, more scowls, and unbelievably loud music blaring through speakers the size of dimes on the bus.
  • NCAA Football has begun. USC looks good... again. Ohio State saw Wells fall. And the ACC looks terrible. In the words of Mike Huguenin, there is some good news for the ACC, i.e. 'Basketball practice begins in six weeks'.
  • Thursday marks the beginning of NFL Football. The New York Football Super Bowl XLII Champion Giants take on the Washington haven't won a championship since 1991 Redskins.
  • The baseball season is winding down and the New York Yankees have decided that they don't want to be in the playoffs for the first time since 1995.
  • Most of you had a day off from work today. Some of you had barbecues and went to picnics.
  • I had a day off from work today and spent it blogging and playing World of Warcraft. Oh, and I barbecued beef ribs too. Yes, I know... unbelievable... but I did.
  • The Republican National Convention began today amidst the landfall of Hurricane Gustav. The good: we won't have to hear Bush and Cheney speak. The bad: New Orleans and the surrounding areas can't take much more of this...
  • Not only am I seeing Halloween stuff in stores but Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff as well. Ugh...
  • A month till my birthday.
  • As late as 20 years ago, I honestly believed that today marked the first day of the calendar year. So, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
